Today in celebration of the 4th of July I am talking about my families holiday traditions and this Potato Salad with Dill Chive Yogurt Dressing with the help of my favorite local grocery store Mariano’s Grocery Store Chicago.
When I was in high school, a senior to be exact, my dad got relocated to Chicago, Illinios. We were living in Kalamazoo, Michigan at the time and of course, being that it was my last year of high school, I was devastated at the thought of moving and not being with my best friends the last year of high school. Long story short my parents were so trusting in me that they let me live with my best friend and her mom to finish out my senior year. Those are pretty wonderful parents, right? I am forever grateful to them for that.
This story leads me to the point that ever since they moved my senior year I have lived away from my family. Soon after high school I decided to attend the University of Illinois. You might be thinking “oh well now she is close to Chicago and her parents!” Well my dad got transferred again, back to Cleveland, Ohio where most of my family lives. Almost 15 years after moving out of their house to live on my own I am still in Chicago, living far away from all of my family. Holidays, like the 4th of July, are extra special for me because most of the time it means I get to go home to Ohio and see my family.
